Università di Bologna (Italy)

The University of Bologna was probably the world’s first university. It’s history is inseparable from that of the great thinkers in science and the humanities, which makes it an indisputable point of reference in European culture. The institution was born in Bologna at the end of the 11th Century, when the masters of grammar, rhetoric and logic turned their attention to the law.

With a view to improving operations and the quality of life within the university community, the University of Bologna has elected a multi-campus structure to extend instructional services and encourage the continuation of  research activities on site. Among many challenges successfully undertaken, the University has made a commitment to European unity, establishing ties with institutions in the most advanced countries, with a view to modernising and expanding its activities.

Every year, the twenty-three faculties of the University of Bologna welcome more than 100,000 students.
