Université Albert-Ludwigs (Germany)

The University was based by the archduke Albert VI of Austria in 1457 and was the 2nd habsbourgeoise university after that of Vienna. Typical fact for medieval epoch, the University grouped together, to its foundation, four faculties: those of theology, law, medicine and philosophy. Its zone of influence was limited to the southwest of Germany, to Alsace, Switzerland and Austria. Today, it count 11 faculties, 98 institutes and and seminars, 138 subjects of studies, 16 scientific centres, 10 domains of specific research and 11 centres of studies and research for 3rd cycle. Among the 22 100 students registered on the winter half-year 2006-2007, we count 3632 foreign students, that is 16,43 % of its strength.
